LIST OF MAJOR PROJECTS SINCE THE YEAR OF ESTABLISHMENT 2000

  1. Government Projects Awarded Through Tender Procedures
    No PROJECT TITLE DESCRIPTION OF WORK
    1 Study for the design of remedial measures at accident blackspots in Cyprus Contract awarded by the Ministry of Communications and works which involved the study of 80 blackspots in Cyprus, the analysis of accident records and the proposal of remedial measures. The project has been completed successfully.
         
    2 Strategy for the Sustainable Quarrying and Mining in Cyprus 2001-2025 Contract awarded by the Geological Survey Department which involves the Preparation of a sustainable Strategy for the quarrying and mining activities in Cyprus for the next 25 years. The work involves the analysis of planning zones and environmental audits of almost all the villages and communities in Cyprus.
         
    3 LIFE PROGRAMME Capacity building for enabling of urban parameters in Spatial Urban Development and Planning Policy and Practices through the use of indicators in Cyprus The project started in January 2004 and will mainly aim at establishing planning and environmental indicators in order to evaluate and improve current planning policies and development plans.
         
    4 Participation in the European programme EURO MED TRANSPORT Project for optimizing the future of Mediterranean Transport The general objective of this project is to support the development of the Euro Mediterranean free exchange zone. This project has been provided with a budget at 20 million Euros.
         
    5 Preparation of the five-year development plan of Ayios Dhometios The project aims at analyzing the Government town planning development proposals for Ayios Dhometios and preparing a detailed plan for the Municipality of Ayios Dhometios proposing specific projects and action plans.

    9 Private car parking provision in Limassol Preparation of two reports for encouraging Private Public Partnership and incentives for creating car parking space by the private sector.
         
    10 Planning policies affecting the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) Preparation of an extensive and substantiated document supporting the exemption from regular planning permits requirements of the public utility services of EAC. These suggestions were incorporated in the new Development Plans.
         
    11 Primary road in Nicosia Preparation of a Transport and Town Planning Report on behalf of residents opposing a primary road widening scheme mainly on the grounds of safety.
         
    12 Environmental Impact Study of the English School Preparation of an Environmental Impact Study for a proposed expansion of the English School in Nicosia.
         
    13 Tourist resort in Paphos Preparation of Traffic Impact Study.
         
    14 New clinic in Nicosia Preparation of Traffic and Environmental Impact Studies.
         
    15 Cinema complex in Nicosia Preparation of a Traffic Impact Study.
         
    16 Athletic centre in Larnaca and Limassol Preparation of Environmental and Traffic Impact Studies.
         
    17 Tourist development in Paphos Preparation of an Environmental Impact Study.
         
    18 Review of town planning policies and zones Preparation of reports for reviewing the planning policies and zones for one major urban area and for a rural area.
         
    19 Planning Policies affecting CYTA Preparation of an extensive and substantiated document supporting the exemption from regular planning permits requirements of the public utility services of the Cyprus Telecommunication Authority (CYTA). These suggestions were incorporated in the new Development Plans.
         
    20 Proposals for a new tourist policy in Larnaca Preparation of a major tourist study in Larnaca involving tourist and demographic data on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Larnaca.
         
    21 Critical Evaluation of the land development of the Larnaca Port Preparation of a report on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Larnaca evaluating the government proposals for the development of the Larnaca port area and the land around the port.
         
    22 Feasibility and Planning Study for the development of a major urban block in Larnaca Analysis of financial and planning scenarios for the development of a major urban area in one of the old quarters of Larnaca.
         
    23 Transport network and environmental policies for a complex of villages in eastern Paphos This work was part of a European LIFE program project involved in a study for the sustainable development of a complex of villages in Paphos.
         
    24 Preparation of Local Plan of the Paralimni Working as a part of a larger multidisciplinary group we are preparing the Local Plan of Paralimni.
         
    25 Air Quality and Mobility Studies in Larnaca and Limassol
    A European SMAP Project
    		 Surveys for establishing the mobility patterns in Limassol and Larnaca.
         
    26 Objections against the policies of Local Plans Review of the policies of the recently published Local Plans and preparation of reports based on planning criteria suggesting amendments of the various development plan policies and of land use plans. The work was carried out on behalf of various local authorities and private land owners.
